My name is Ben, one of the co-founders of WhoCouldForget, and I wanted to share with you the story of how my friend and fellow co-founder Andy and I began our journey.
From 2006 to 2019, Andy and I worked with companies to assist in enhancing their online presence. We noticed a shift towards cloud-based back-office solutions for customer relationship management software (CRM). Working closely with some major corporations, we had the opportunity to collaborate on the design and development of several renowned CRM systems that are widely used today.
In 2019, the world was completely shaken up by the most severe global pandemic of our time. Millions of people were falling very ill, and the death tolls kept rising. As we reached 2022, Andy and I had both suffered the heartbreaking loss of family and friends due to the devastating impact of COVID-19. Suddenly, our work seemed trivial in comparison. We both realised that we wanted to create something meaningful together that could make a difference on a personal level.
One of my dearest friends went through the painful experience of losing his father and having to handle his estate alone. His father, a private person, left behind a complicated financial situation that took my friend two years to unravel. He shared with me how this overwhelming responsibility prevented him from properly grieving for his father's passing.
Supporting each other through such tough times made us determined to create something that could ease the burden for others facing similar challenges.
After experiencing our own personal struggles and hearing similar stories from others, Andy and I were inspired to create a solution. That's how WhoCouldForget was born. We set out to develop an ultra-secure cloud-based storage system for accounts and assets, with the aim of providing account holders with easy access to all their financial information in one place, ensuring their next-of-kin can quickly access it when they need to.
Through our research, we discovered that a large percentage of UK adults do not have a will, and many homeowners lack this essential document. This has led to thousands of inheritance disputes each year, often stemming from the absence of a will. This places immense pressure on families nationwide. Realising the importance of addressing these issues, we expanded our system to cover a wider range of life and legacy planning tools.
Today, WhoCouldForget offers a comprehensive software suite that includes services such as will writing, completion of lasting power of attorney, advance care planning, funeral planning, creating farewell audio or video messages for loved ones, and preserving memories through sharing photos and videos.
Our mission now is to provide our software for free to those who need it most. The more subscribers we have, the better we can do in easing the burden for individuals facing end-of-life care and supporting their families. We believe that our journey has only just begun, and we are committed to working tirelessly on this incredible project. We will continue to offer the best customer service and introduce new features whenever possible.
